Lent

The powerful season of Lent stretches out before us, which prepares us for the greatest season of the year – Eastertide!

For over 3 months, from Ash Wednesday (6th March) to Pentecost (9th June), which brings Eastertide to a close, the Lord will give us countless opportunities to grow in faith, hope and love. Throughout Lent our theme, given to us by Pope Francis, is ‘Conversion’…..to which I add ‘Deepening our Faith…..from convenience to commitment’

Are you ready to receive His gifts? Here are some ways to help you to ‘turn away from sin and believe the Good News’:

* Come to celebrate Mass at least once during the week (Tuesday and Thursday, 9.15am at St Patrick’s or Tuesday to Saturday 12noon at St Marie’s  ).

* Attend Exposition: Tuesday and Thursday 8.45am to 9.15am at St Patrick’s and Tuesday to Saturday 11.30am - 12noon at St Marie’s.

* Make sure you celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent - there are 3 ways you can choose to receive this gift from the Lord:-

¨ Lenten Communal Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the Parishes of St Marie, St Patrick and Holy Family – at St Marie’s at 7pm on Thursday 4th April.

¨ In the Reconciliation Room, at St Marie’s, Tuesday to Saturday 11.30 – 12noon or, at St Patrick’s, Saturday 5.30 – 6p.m

¨ By appointment with Fr John in the Emmaus Room in the Parish House

* Pray the ‘Stations of the Cross’, in St Marie’s Saturday 12.35pm and St Patrick’s Thursday 9.50am, blest as we are to have our Churches open so much you are welcome to pray the Stations on your own if you wish.
